Ellie's Garden News6/17/07 -- Just got in from San Francisco and found my fabulous work study student Shonn Simon got all crazy on the yard while I was gone. He's all Emo so you just have to imagine him armed with a pick axe removing this ugly ass brunfelia the size of a small island nation in the south pacific. The previous owners planted it for reasons which are not totally clear. Check out his website - they just put out a new cd (website). And if you wanna do me a huge favour, email him and nag him to take some interviews - he's being stubborn about that! Friggin emo guys!6/15/07 -- Check out my friend's new brugmansia intro he is kicking butt and taking names on ebay. He came by the last garden sale and generously gifted me with several very pretty brugs from his collection, picked up a Passiflora parritae & an antioquiensis, and introduced me to his fabulous friends who know my neighbour Ernie who should not move out of his house (now for sale), but I'll plug his house anyway cause THAT is the kinda great neighbour I am. But if you buy it, I hope you like eccentric neighbours. 6/5/07-- Last week these duckies were hatched and I brought one inside like an idiot and now it thinks I am it's mother and won't go back to it's real mother. So...he sleeps in a box for now and I have named him a temporary name to use during childhood - his name is The Cutest Ducky On The Face Of the Planet (we call him The Cutest Ducky EVER for short). He is now fatter than all his siblings. It is very interesting to see how they act "in private" because usually they know they are ducks. But this one is very interesting because he thinks people are his kind. So he is very responsive to suggestions and stuff. I am trying to wean him back to his mom in some way so that he can eventually hang out with (and have sex with) other ducks (and not my leg which sometimes they do if they are too human-centric). Here is a picture of The Cutest Ducky Ever (image) 6/4/07-- Lapageria seeds I planted in December 2006 have finally sprouted. They are totally cute. Anxiously awaiting flowers. *2 years* from now... 5/27/07-- Procrastinating for my concert on Friday, I am popping in to tell ya what is in bloom: Aristolochia gigantea, Aristolochia brasiliensis (aka: A. gigantea var 'Braziliensis'), Lapagerias (as usual), and the ever popular Available At Home Depot 'Frosty Pink' Brugmansia. We've had a lot of growth on the Deppea splendens, Brugmansia sanguinea, Brugmansia arborea, and the Ae Ae Banana is taking off again (we had to cover it with plastic during the frost and pump hot air on it all night and it is paying us back with THREE pups. We have two promised out already and one available mid-late summer for $125 or trade. 5/20/07-- OK I have not been doing many open garden sales due to work - I apologize for the lapse. My Real Job beckons! 11/30/06-- Good Lord! And now Deppea splendens is blooming. I think it might bloom out in time for the Dec sales! The Big One has a buttload of buds on it as of now. BTW this is the same plant that came to San Diego in a 5 gallon can stuffed in my carry on luggage and didn't lose a leaf! 11/29/06 -- Aristolochia brasiliensis and Aristolochia gigantea are in bloom! Weird Weird Weird! 11/25/06 -- Lapagerias blooming fiercely! Seedlings in pink, white, and mixed in bloom as well as the cultivars 'Collinge', 'Nahuelbuta', 'Mission Lace', and others are budding out. 7/30/06 -- my Lapageria rosea 'Nahuelbuta' is in bloom now - bring your camera to the 5 Aug sale. Link to info on this awesome cultivar. 7/29/06--Tweaky Beaky has died. My favourite chicken. More on this later. 7/26/06--Just got in 120 new lapagerias! More 6/30/06 --- Duckies are hatching today.
